Manawatu swimmer Blake Gunn has added a silver medal from the 2016 Oceania Swimming Championships in Suva, Fiji to his resume.
He was part of a New Zealand team consisting of 27 pool and five open water swimmers which won a total of 23 gold, 16 silver and 12 bronze medals at the meet – a total of 51 medals to finish on top of the medal table ahead of Australia.
Gunn contributed to the tally in the 400m Individual Medley where he was the fastest qualifier going into the finals in 4:37.53.
In the finals he managed to come home second to take the silver medal in 4:35.97. An impressive result on the international stage.
Gunn, a student at Massey University and an old boy of Rangitikei College, swims for the Kiwi West Aquatics Club in Palmerston North.
